Three Artifacts
The first artifact that I thought I could analyze using the ideological method of criticism is President Obama's inauguration speech. I think that I could use his speech and analyze it because it has so many positive aspects and meanings for so many different people. It meant change, progress, and belief in a person who stood for the exact opposite of what we have been through in the last eight years.
The second artifact I choose was actually the use of Blogs. My major is Communication with a emphasis on Public Relations, so blogs have become a large part of getting out information to consumers. Blogs are also a means of analyzing what consumers and other companies have to say about another.
The last artifact I hope to correctly analyze is my father's retirement flag. My father had served 23 years in the Marine Corps and him recieving that flag to me meant dedication, courage, and patience. It also reminds me of how powerful his speech was that he gave on his last day as a enlisted Marine.

Chapter Three
This chapter of the book takes a look at Neo-Aristotelian Criticism. Here are the questions associated with this chapter.
How does the book define "Neo-Artistotelian Criticism"?
-It was the first formal method of Rhetorical Criticism developed in the communication field. Herbert Wichelns later broke down the central methods and described it as literary criticism from rhetorical critisicm.
What are the three basic steps in analyzing the artifact?
-The first step is the person reconstructing the context in which the artifact occured. The second is applying the five canons to the artifact, and the last one is assesing the impact of the artifact on the audience.
What are the five canons of rhetoric?
-The first canon is Invention, which consists of the person coming up with ideas for their presentation. Second is organization, how the person arranges their presentation. Third is style, the way the presentaion is projected. Fourth is memory, knowing your subject with a clear knowledge of it, not needed the use of other props to help. Lastly delivery, how the person gives the speech and the way they use their voice and gestures.

My purpose of my blog will be to help myself and other understand the true meanings behind Rhetorical Criticism. I hope to be able to find several ways (as in media approache, ex:tv clips, articles) to help me get to the foundation of this course.
